Our Craftsmen team includes one subsidiary, Schantz Manufacturing. Schantz focuses on custom manufacturing of concession trailers for the fair and festival industry.

Position Title: Lead Industrial Designer

Location: St. Charles, MO

Position Summary:

The Lead Industrial Designer assigns duties to the departmental Creative Designers to prepare drawings and renderings in a timely manner. Additionally, the Lead Creative Designer works directly with customers, Creative Design department, and project team members on workable solutions for drawings and renderings. Sales drawings range from 2D layouts to multi-view photorealistic renderings and animations. Production projects range is from 2-20 weeks in duration and $5,000 to $2,000,000 of sales revenue.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Schedules workload to create the most efficiency within the department.
• Coach and train others in the department in renderings and animations.
• Understand production capabilities, limitations, and processes.
• Lead Creative Design team meetings.
• Interface with customers to brainstorm creative and innovative solutions.
• Guide customers to workable solutions for manufacturability.
• Create drawings, renderings, animations and fly-through in support of the Sales department.
• Establish standard sales designs and practices.
• Explore and stay current on rendering approaches, trends, and methods.
• Assist the Engineering department, as needed, on production designs and drawings.
• Incorporate feedback for continuous improvement.

Required Skills:

• High School Diploma and 7 years of industrial design related experience.
• Proficient in Sketch UP, 3d MAX OR Adobe Creative Suite.
• Ability to communicate via phone and in-person to vendors and employees.

Preferred Skills:

• Associate Degree in Industrial Design or related design degree with 5 years of industrial design related experience.
• Other CAD modeling and rendering software.

Physical Skills:

Required use of fingers and hands to operate a computer.

Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Must be able to remain in a stationary sitting position and move about the office.

Ability to climb stairs/ladder and be able to navigate in a shop environment and in a safe manner.
