Position Title: Payroll Specialist

Location: St. Charles, MO


Position Summary: Craftsmen Industries is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to collect and process weekly payroll for both salary and hourly employees. Administer all activities relative to Payroll, including but not limited to weekly payroll, Paid Time Off, employee status changes, retirement accounts, and maintaining employee records.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Enter all newly hired employees into the payroll system (IPS).
  • Process and record information including personal data, compensation, tax data, and terminations.
  • Record changes on all employee statuses (i.e., change of address, direct deposit entries, departmental transfers, rate increases, etc.).
  • Compile data from personnel records and prepare reports.
  • Process wage/salary adjustments, reimbursements, and deductions.
  • Maintain knowledge of rules and laws which govern payroll administration policies and practices.
  • Assures that payroll-related transactions are processed in compliance with external and internal policies.
  • Calculate and process deductions and 401(k) contributions.
  • Reconcile errors, maintain accurate payroll records and monthly invoices.
  • Assist with annual benefit/payroll related audits.
  • Must stay up to date relative to Payroll and HR Laws and regulations to ensure compliance with all state and federal laws.
  • Ensure accuracy of all benefit enrollments in HRIS to provide vendors with accurate eligibility information.

Required Skills:

  • 2 – 4 years' experience in Payroll or related field; preferably in the manufacturing or industrial industry.
  • Extensive knowledge of employee benefits and applicable laws.
  • Must be approachable with strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must have the ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate them when appropriate.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the Company's HRIS and Payroll system.
  • Proven experience in a payroll position in a fast-paced environment required.
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
  • ISO Requirements: Assist with tracking/maintaining records of employee skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent payroll related experience.
  • Strong computer literacy and experience using Integrated Payroll Services (IPS) or similar HRIS.

Physical Requirements:

  • Required to sit prolonged periods of time at a desk and working on a computer.
